Join Macquarie Change the Bank team supporting investment banking operations. In this role you will work directly with business users to understand operational pain points, document requirements, and deliver practical automation and data solutions that reduce manual work and improve accuracy. You will design and build small-to-medium Python-based automations and workflow solutions for data processing, reporting, reconciliations and operational tasks. The role is end-to-end: you will gather requirements, produce BRDs and functional specs, develop and test scripts, support UAT and deployments, and prepare release/change documentation and operational handover. Success in this role looks like clearly documented requirements, well-tested automations deployed to production with appropriate controls, timely resolution of deployment issues, and adoption by business users. You will be judged on delivering reliable, auditable automation that meets compliance needs and measurably reduces manual effort.
- Hands-on experience building Python automation for data processing, file I/O and workflow tasks (scripts that read/write CSV/Excel, handle exceptions, log results and can be scheduled or run as micro-solutions). - Proficiency with data manipulation libraries and file formats (pandas, NumPy, openpyxl or equivalent) and practical experience processing Excel/CSV and generating reports. - Experience integrating with APIs and databases (ability to connect, query, and ingest data from REST APIs and common databases as part of automation pipelines). - Demonstrable experience producing formal documentation: BRDs, functional specifications, test cases, release notes, change requests and user guides for automation delivery. - Track record of managing end-to-end delivery for automation or change initiatives: requirements gathering, development, UAT support, deployment support and post-release fixes. - Working knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing lifecycle and change management processes in a controlled environment (including UAT and production release procedures). - Experience using Git or an equivalent version control system as part of development and deployment workflows. - Strong stakeholder communication skills: running requirements workshops, coordinating dependencies with technology/infra/compliance teams, and providing clear progress and risk updates.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, VBA, Alteryx, UiPath or other workflow/automation platforms. - Prior experience in investment banking, financial services operations, middle/back office, risk or compliance environments. - Familiarity with regulatory, audit and change-control driven environments and the documentation/approval patterns they require. - Basic SQL skills and experience building dashboards or reconciliation/reporting tools for operational use.
